UE LifeSciences has developed a non-invasive breast cancer screening and detection device for women. The product, NoTouch BreastScan is an FDA approved device. It includes a computerized digital infrared imaging system for breast cancer detection that includes dual-infrared imaging, smart air-cooling system, remote operation, and software analytics features. It utilizes a patented tactile sensor technology using a Piezoelectric Sensor Array (invented by the scientists and doctors at Drexel University). The sensors can measure tissue compression and shear stiffness either by top-down or lateral touching of the skin surface and the company claims that it can perform the clinical breast exam with a lower risk of false positives.
